“Voting plays a fundamental role in the overall health and security of the EOS blockchain. Token holders that vote provide the glue that holds BPs accountable and incentivizes them to add value to the community. Arguably most important, voting secures the network. The more votes there are, the higher the threshold of attack.”
The Chintai proxy will officially go live on December 3rd, 2018, at roughly UTC 18:00. The Chintai Managers have spent several hours over many meetings carefully deliberating on the voting slate.
This has been a difficult process and it will remain difficult, which is good. There are dozens of Block Producers that have proven they fit the Chintai Proxy voting requirements:
- Technical competency
- Adherence to the EOS Constitution
- Reinvestment of block rewards back into the ecosystem
- Support for the development of EOS dApps
- Transparency in block producer operations
- Demonstrated independence.
Originally, the intent was to go live with 25 total votes staked for the 11 sponsors of Chintai plus 14 additional Block Producers. However, there are more than 14 block producers who are exemplary. For this reason, the proxy managers have elected to release 5 votes on top of the 11 sponsors, totaling 16 votes to start. Proxy managers will continue to deliberate and release additional votes in groups of 4 or 5 at the beginning of each week until all 25 have been chosen. Then, a formal application process will be released for the final 5 votes.
We are committed to ensuring a full voting slate is established with 30 exemplary Block Producer teams. This is best practice and ensures network security and distribution of block rewards.
Within the next 48 hours, a second article will be published that will contain a thorough description of each reason why each Block Producer has been added to the Chintai proxy voting slate.
